The book case was relatively easy to make as the whole thing was made up of cubes that I stretched and made smaller. The bookcase I designed is to make the room I am making look more like a classroom. The bookcase will be filled with harry potter themed objects including, potion bottles, potion books, a broomstick and other things like, wands and spell books. The first object I made was the back of the case, which included the top, bottom and side of the bookcase, to build this I used the cube tool and stretched into a rectangular shape. After this I selected the front face using the face tool and deleted it so it looked like a vertical empty box. From this stage I used the cube tool again to make the shelves to go inside the bookcase, I used the scale tool to scale down the cube so it was small. I then stretched it to match the length of the bookcase; I duplicated this once and moved it downwards so it was about a quarter away up from the bottom. To make the bookcase I extruded the sides of it to make it thicker, as the object was almost complete I had to resize it to make it a little bit taller than what it already was. The Extrude NURBS object extrudes a spline to create an object with depth. However I had to group all the objects together before doing this so all the shapes were all together so it was easier to move and handle. I named the null object "bookcase" and then i finally re-sized it ready to put in the potion room.Monday, 2 March 2015
